Big scam on campus
This week’s weird thought.
Take a look at this chart. Especially all those red balls.

The NFL and NBA are worth billions and billions of dollars. So how did they talk higher education in America into footing the bill (including staffing, equipment, stadium space, etc.) to run what are essentially their minor league teams? Especially when many schools report only single-digit percentage returns to their actual academic programs?
Why can’t the billionaire leagues set up their own minor leagues, like baseball in the U.S. or association football in Europe, and ALSO make college grants a guaranteed part of the retirement package for those minor leaguers who don’t manage to go Pro?
Looks like they have the money.

Do you know?

Finally, breathe
I got some weird viral crud, and was out of commission for like a week and a half. Just today I wandered, blinking, into my backyard. And I just sat there. No phone. No earbuds. And it was pretty cool. You might enjoy it, too.
Until we talk again, I remain,
Your pal,
