Six impossible things
An experiment in analog
I was thinking about the nature of the newsletter as we know it today. Newsletters are creatures of the web: sent via email, read on a screen, with links to other locations online. Sometimes newsletters are all links (I'm looking at you, Austin Kleon).
Even if those links describe ways to be present and active in the real world (I'm looking at you, Austin Kleon), they are still more time online.
So how could I take this newsletter offline, and still get it to you in a convenient format that doesn't involve postage and a massive (snail) mailing list?
Beats me. But I've got an experiment for you. An issue of the newsletter that you cannot experience until you physically remove it from your computer.
It's a zine. A foldable, 8-page newsletter you can create from a single sheet of paper. It has no links, because how would that work anyway?
The whole thing is based on one of my favorite quotes from Through the Looking-Glass:
Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.
So here's six impossible things for you. Believe 'em, don't believe 'em. Give them serious thought, or just laugh at them. Before breakfast or after dinner. Do as you will, you're the boss of you. I just know that when I take some time to concentrate on the implications of any of these six impossibilities, they kind of unfold in my mind and show new angles and surfaces. Like mental origami.
The zine itself
So here's the zine. Download and print onto 8.5 x 11 inch paper.
Some assembly required
You will need to do some folding and cutting for the best zine experience. Here's a very good guide on how.

See you there
Until we meet at the zine, I remain,
Your pal,
Jamie
